The School for Speaker Success!

Planning - Preparation - Presentation Tips!

Greetings SpeakerBiz Students! It is great that you feel called to become a professional motivational speaker. It is also great if you have a personal story and experience speaking locally. My advice is to continue your impact locally and speak any time you have an opportunity. Then, you need to start investing in yourself as a professional. Almost every professional in any field has had to get an education, training, mentoring, and experience. Yes, this will cost you money, but remember as a speaker you are the primary product.

Business Growth & Development Tips!

Education is a key. You need to start studying and never stop. If you are going to be a "motivational speaker," what are your areas of motivation, who are you going to motivate, how are you going to motivate them, and what strategies are you going to use? You must understand you are not the only person out there "motivating" so you need to know what others are doing. You have to define your niche within the larger market of professional speaking. Define your audience, subject matter, and how your story plays a part in all of the above. You must educate yourself so that you are an expert on your subject. Let us just say you want to prevent bullying. You will need to read every book, paper, article, get a hold of every bullying program, interview other experts on the subject etc… just to start. I think you get the point on education.

Personal Success Tips!

Training is key. You need to get as much training on your subject as you can. You will need to become a marketer of your own material, website designer, and blogger. Marketing yourself as a speaker is a very unique task. There are a number of training programs out there, so seek and you shall find. You will find training on niches like youth, coaching, children, human resources, technologies, and many others. Training will not be cheap, but can be done over time. You may find you need to be "certified" on a subject or program if you are going to have the credibility to be the expert. You need to get an education and/or training in basic business. There are elements here that you must have.

"One hour per day of study will put you at the top of your field within three years.  Within five years, you'll be a national authority.  In seven years, you can be one of the best people in the world at what you do."
